IPCSG is a grassroots organization started in the early 90's by our founders to serve prostate cancer survivors, their spouses/partners and families. We are a 5Ol(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to communicating timely and reliable information that enables informed choices regarding detection and treatment of prostate cancer. Our "mission statement" is to instill "MEDICAL LITERACY" about conditions and treatments used by the medical establishment. Ultimately, IPCSG strives to provide knowledge to the patient that will allow the patient to ask the tough questions of their doctors and make wise decision in the type of treatment, if any, they choose. We are adament about you considering your quality of life concerning all treatments, offered to those affected by prostate cancer. IPCSG understands, when a loved one has been dianosed with prostate cancer, it is traumatizing. Life may be suddenly out of control and fear could set in. Sometimes, feelings of helplessness, guilt, isolation and anger emerge. No one needs to face prostate cancer alone. IPCSG provides the forum for sharing, caring and learning through its many programs and services designed for both men with cancer and their loved ones. In addition to providing education and support programs, IPCSG is an active advocate for patients. We are committed to helping patients have access to the programs, medications, treatments and health care professionals they need for the best possible outcomes. IPCSG realizes that every human group or culture must have adequate commuications to function effectively. "MEDICAL LITERACY" is essencial in understanding the modern medical world. Like all aspects of life, literacy requires continued transmission and understanding of specific information. Therefore, it is our VISION as well as our mission to communicate effectively with each other in our organization.
